What Is a CBD Tincture and How Do You Use It?

Edie Horstman

Although tinctures have been used for thousands of years as an integral part of Eastern medicine, they have recently gained popularity in the broader wellness world. Fundamentally, an herbal tincture is “a concentrated liquid form of one or more herbs.” Easy and convenient to use, tinctures are taken orally. By using a dropper and placing the liquid under the tongue, the body is able to efficiently absorb the tincture’s ingredients.

Traditionally, tinctures are used in holistic medicine and Ayurveda. From helping bring balance to the body to decreasing stress and improving blood flow, they are touted for their healing abilities.

To create them, ancient techniques call for herbs to be soaked in alcohol or vinegar for several weeks, thus extracting the active components of the herbs.

Sublingual CBD

Like other tinctures, CBD tinctures are usually taken using a medicine dropper. Whether you’re experiencing chronic pain, insomnia or stress, using a sublingual tincture of CBD may have health benefits, though results vary from person to person. In many cases, using a tincture is the preferred method, thanks to its highly concentrated formula and easy-to-use delivery. When applied under the tongue, CBD is quickly assimilated in the bloodstream. Your tongue’s membranes are relatively thin, allowing for faster absorption by the body. That said, be sure to keep the substance under your tongue for at least 60 seconds before swallowing.

Additionally, thanks to the tincture’s dropper, you can be very precise with how much CBD you take – based on the strength of the tincture and how much you fill the dropper. Last but not least, tinctures are conveniently discreet. Whether you’re at work, commuting or heading to the gym, you can keep your tincture in your pocket, backpack or bag.

CBD Pure Wellness

Vitagenne’s non-GMO tincture, CBD Pure Wellness, is a pure CBD isolate combined with coconut MCT oil for optimal absorption. It is available in three strengths in a 30 milliliter bottle — 500 milligrams, 1,500 milligrams and 3,000 milligrams — so you can choose which best suits your health needs. In addition to being non-GMO, Vitagenne’s tincture is THC-free, gluten-free and CO2 extracted. Furthermore, it is tested by a third party for purity and harmful chemicals or compounds.

As with all Vitagenne products, CBD Pure Wellness is made in a facility that is FDA-registered, food-grade and GMP-complaint. The tincture’s only two ingredients are 99 percent pure CBD isolate and coconut MCT oil, and it’s meant to be taken daily. Each serving size is 1 milliliter and there are 30 servings in each bottle. For convenience, the top includes a cylinder with a scale showing how much product is in the cylinder. It is recommended to draw out one serving size at a time, and either take Vitagenne’s hemp CBD oil sublingually or mix it with your favorite beverage.

Daily Tincture Routine

Speaking of mixing CBD Pure Wellness with your favorite beverage, there are many ways to incorporate a tincture into your daily routine. Upon waking in the morning, you can add the appropriate serving size to your coffee or hot tea, blend it into a superfood CBD smoothie or place a few drops under your tongue before starting your work commute. Lastly, as you wind down for the day, add CBD oil to a non-caffeinated tea or take Vitagenne’s Sleep Gel Capsules.
