FAQ
Where is Vitagenne’s Hemp from?
Our hemp is grown and extracted right here in the United States in accordance with the strict guidelines of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Industrial Hemp Research Pilot Program, which means that harvesting and distributing the product is legal at the federal level. Kentucky’s growing season is long and the soil is rich and fertile, providing the highest quality hemp.
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a group of active compounds found in the hemp plant. These compounds play an active role in the functioning of our immune and central nervous system. One of the most prevalent compounds is Cannabidiol (CBD). Our bodies have a natural Endocannabinoid system (ECS) which has receptors that these compounds fit into, thus utilizing cannabinoids to support, maintain and regulate our physical wellbeing. A number of research programs are underway globally to further define, qualify and quantify the benefits that cannabinoids provide.
What is the Endocannabinoid system?
Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids that are produced naturally by the human body. Although distinct from those which are produced in hemp or marijuana, they share similar properties and effects.
We have two (2) main types of receptors in our bodies: Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1), mainly located in the brain and nervous system and Cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2), mainly located in the immune system and in the gastrointestinal system.
Our bodies’ natural endocannabinoids and the cannabinoid THC mainly bind with CB1 receptors, due to similar molecular structure. CB2 receptors bind best with endocannabinoid CBD and 2-AG.
Put simply, cannabinoids and their receptors act like a lock and key. This is what is known as our Endocannabinoid system and is active in each one of us daily. Read more by clicking this link.
What is the entourage effect?
A phrase coined by S. Ben Shabbat and Raphael Mechoulam which refers to the compounds present in cannabis working together to provide the full spectrum and benefits of the therapeutic compounds cannabis has to offer. Though the idea of the entourage effect has taken root in the industry, the concept has no rigorous scientific evidence, as of 2018.
Vitagenne’s full spectrum products are extracted using the whole-plant. Full spectrum hemp extracts include CBD but also many other cannabinoids and terpenes. These other cannabinoids and terpenes work together to form the “entourage” effect. Full spectrum products contain trace amounts of THC, with all of Vitagenne’s full spectrum products tested to ensure THC levels are below the 0.3% legal threshold.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, commonly known as CBD, is a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid and one of over 70+ naturally occurring compounds found in the hemp plant. CBD has been gaining momentum in the scientific community and media due to the myriad of benefits it is believed to provide. CBD is the second most prevalent cannabinoid in marijuana and the the most prevalent non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp. Until recently, THC (also known as delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol), was the most well-known and studied cannabinoid due to its abundance in marijuana but it has quickly been supplanted by CBD. Unlike THC, CBD does not cause any feeling of being “high,” which has been the driving factor behind its legalization across the United States when derived from hemp.
Will I fail a drug test?
Whilst the risk is low, if you are subject to drug testing we recommend that you consult your health care professional. Hemp contains traces of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) with a legal limit of 0.3%.
Am I able to take Vitagenne’s products with prescription medications?
We always recommend consulting your physician prior to adding Vitagenne’s CBD oil, CBD gel capsules and CBD topical products into your daily routine.
How should I store my Vitagenne products?
We recommend that you store your products in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. Vitagenne products are not required to be refrigerated. Please ensure that you take note of the expiry date that is indicated on the bottom of the product container and on top of the retail box around the QR code sticker.
What is the expiration date of my products?
The expiration date is clearly indicated on the bottom of the product container and on top of the retail box around the QR code sticker which (when scanned) contains details of your products’ independent third party lab test results. Please ensure to take note of this expiry date and consume the products content prior to this date. All products must be disposed of after the expiry date.
What is the difference between CBD “isolate” and “full spectrum” hemp extract (also sometimes called “full spectrum” CBD)?
If you are just beginning to familiarize yourself with CBD, terms such as ‘CBD isolate’ and ‘full spectrum hemp extract’ (also known as ‘whole-plant extract’) may be confusing. When considering which product is right for you, it is important that you understand the difference. Below is a summary that outlines how they differ.
CBD Isolate
CBD isolate refers to the purest form of cannabidiol and is produced by singularly extracting that compound and removing all other compounds found in that plant.
Full Spectrum Hemp Extract
Full Spectrum refers to oil that is extracted from the hemp plant containing all the compounds found naturally in the plant, including terpenes, essential oils, vitamins and Omega fatty acids. The full spectrum of cannabinoids extracted from the plant may work together to enhance the benefits of each individual cannabinoid.
Is CBD fully legal in the USA?
Given the uncertainty and rapid pace of change of relevant state and federal legislation, Vitagenne makes no representation as to the legality of CBD under laws applicable to you. We encourage you to do your research on your laws if you have any questions.
What side effects can CBD cause?
We do not advise or make medical recommendations or claims. We encourage you to consult with your health care practicioner before using any of our products.
Can I give CBD to my children?
We are not able to make any medical recommendations or claims and strongly recommend you consult with your health care practitioner.
Do I need to avoid driving? Any other restrictions?
Our products are not psychoactive and will not get you high. It is always recommended you consult your health care practitioner if you have restrictions with driving on a regular basis.
Can I cook with CBD?
Using CBD in food is a popular practice; however, the distinction between using CBD oil as a cooking oil versus consuming it separately on food is an important one. In order to avoid losing CBD oil to the cooking process, we recommend drizzling the oil on top of food (like a salad) or mixing the oil directly with food (like a sauce). CBD oil is also used to enhance liquid meals such as smoothies, milkshakes and meal replacement shakes. Read more about how how to boost the benefits of your breakfast with CBD here.
Do I need a prescription for CBD?
No, you do not need a prescription in the United States; however, we are not able to make any medical recommendations or claims and strongly recommend you consult with your health care practitioner. THOSE WHO SUSPECT THEY MAY HAVE A DISEASE OR ARE SEEKING HELP FOR A DISEASE SHOULD CONSULT A QUALIFIED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.
What’s the difference between Hemp and Marijuana?
Scientifically, industrial Hemp and Marijuana are the same plants, with a genus and species name of Cannabis Sativa; however, they both have very different genetic profiles.
Industrial Hemp is a strain of Cannabis sativa, while marijuana can be one of either Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, or Cannabis ruderalis. The difference arises in how the industrial hemp form of Cannabis sativa has been bred compared to the marijuana form of Cannabis sativa. Industrial hemp is very fibrous, with long strong stalks, and barely has any flowering buds, while marijuana will be smaller, bushier, and full of flowering buds. However, newer industrial hemp varieties in the USA are being bred to have more flowers and higher yields of cannabinoids and terpenes.
Marijuana has a much higher concentration of THC compared to CBD. Hemp, on the other hand, naturally has a higher concentration of CBD compared to THC. Fortunately, the cannabinoid profile of hemp is ideal for people looking for benefits from cannabis without the ‘high.’ Hemp is used for making herbal supplements, food, fiber, rope, paper, bricks, oil, natural plastic, and so much more, whereas marijuana is usually used just recreationally, spiritually, and medicinally. The term cannabis oil can refer to either a marijuana or hemp-derived oil since marijuana and hemp are two different forms of cannabis. Vitragenne’s CBD oil is derived from hemp.
In the USA the legal definition of “industrial hemp”, per Section 7606 of the Agricultural Appropriations Act of 2014, is “INDUSTRIAL HEMP — The term ‘‘industrial hemp’’ means the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”

How is Vitagenne different from other CBD and hemp companies?
We stand out from other companies in the CBD industry because of our focus on “customer FIRST”, supremely pure and potent products and unwavering commitment to our mission and values. We conduct independent third-party lab testing on every single product batch and are certified by the U.S. Hemp Authority to further reassure you of the high-quality products we offer you.
Is hemp oil (or hemp seed oil) the same as CBD oil?
NO! Standard hemp seed oil, which can be found at most grocery retail outlets, is a much different product than our full-spectrum hemp extracts (not from seed). Standard hemp seed oil is produced by cold pressing the seeds, whereas our hemp extract is a full plant extraction with myriad components not typically found in the seeds. Hemp seed oil is considered to be a great nutritive food, but it doesn’t have the naturally occurring terpenes, cannabinoids and other components that our extracts contain. Read more about the difference between hemp seed oil and CBD oil here.
What kind of testing/analysis is performed on your products?
Independent third party laboratories analyze all of our products and supplements for their cannabinoid profile and potency - including max THC levels - and bacterial/microbial contaminants - including yeast and mold. The test results for all produced batches can be found in our online batch database and is accessible for your particular batch by scanning the QR code stickers located on each product page and on top of the retail box. We strive to go above and beyond, especially when it comes to quality, safety, and the wellness of our customers.
What are terpenes?
Secreted in the same glands that produce cannabinoids like THC and CBD, terpenes are aromatic oils that color cannabis varieties with distinctive flavors like citrus, berry, mint, and pine. Over 100 different terpenes have been identified in the cannabis plant, and every strain tends toward a unique terpene type and composition. Arguably the most fascinating characteristic of terpenes is their ability to interact synergistically with other compounds in the plant, like cannabinoids. In the past few decades, most cannabis varieties have been bred to contain high levels of THC, and as a result, other cannabinoids like CBD have fallen to just trace amounts. This has led many to believe that terpenes play a key role in differentiating the effects of various cannabis strains. Each individual terpene is associated with unique effects. Some promote relaxation and stress-relief, while others promote focus and acuity. The effect profile of any given terpene may change in the presence of other compounds in a phenomenon known as the entourage effect. More research is needed to understand each terpene’s effect when used in harmony with others.
Does your CBD isolate contain THC?
All our products are tested and analyzed for plant based cannabinoids to ensure that our CBD isolate does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC); and our full spectrum products contain no more than 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). You can view the third party lab test results directly on our product pages and on QR codes located on each product you purchase.
How much oil does the dropper hold?
The dropper in our 30mL bottles hold one (1) serving or equivalently 1mL of hemp-derived CBD isolate oil. The top includes a dropper with a scale showing how much of your product is in the dropper. We recommend that you draw out one (1) serving and either take orally or mix with your favorite beverage or food item.
How many servings does each bottle of Pure Wellness Hemp CBD Oil Supplement hold?
Vitagenne’s hemp-derived CBD oil is provided to you in a 30 mL bottle. The bottle contains 30 separate 1mL servings and is meant for daily use. This means a typical person would use this product up in 30 days.
Which product is the right one for me?
We believe we are providing our customers with the highest quality hemp products and that no matter what strength you take you can rest assured that you are providing your body with the natural goodness of phytocannabinoids. If you are new to CBD, we recommend you try a lower dose with our CBD Pure Wellness 500mg & Total Wellness Hemp Extract to start and if you are a regular user of CBD and lead an active lifestyle then try one of our stronger products like our CBD Pure Wellness 1500mg or our CBD Pure Wellness 3000mg.
What type of extraction method do you employ? Do you do CO2 or ethanol extraction?
We use CO2 extraction. We believe in using natural CO2 as the solvent to remove the cannabinoids from our hemp as opposed to ethanol which could be left behind after being processed. We then test our products for purity and any contaminants. These tests are done for every batch of every product and are available at your fingertips upon purchase. Read more about the different CBD extraction methods here.
